Choices include:
- B-1 visas — for business people on temporary stays in the U.S. – great for market research, visiting customers, negotiating contracts or making preparations to apply for another business visa.
- E-1 Treaty Trader visas — for persons establishing and managing firms engaged primarily in bilateral trade of goods or services. Requirements are: the existence of a Treaty of Commerce and Navigation between the U.S. and the trader’s home country and substantial trade in goods or services.
- E-2 Treaty Investor visas — for persons starting, buying, or continuing businesses in the U.S. Requirements are: the existence of a Treaty of Commerce and Navigation the U.S. and the investor’s home country and a substantial investment into an active business, which will make an impact in the U.S. economy.
- E Manager visas — companies that establish as E-1 or E-2 companies can bring qualified foreign nationals from their home countries as manager. Spouses of E visa holders can apply for employment authorization.
- L visas — intra-company transfers for members of multinational companies or groups of companies. Prerequisites are: the existence of a qualifying relationship between the foreign and the U.S. company and a prior existing employment relationship between the foreign company and the transferee to the U.S. Bonus: Spouses can apply for their own work authorization.
- L-1A visas — for executives and managers of multinational enterprises.
- L-1B visas — for professional and technical employees of multinational enterprises.
